Hi Kolbrin,
Well you finally arrived! You may not have been ready but we sure were. Mommy was induced last week on Thursday and you made your grand entrance to the world. You were born Thursday, August 18, 2011 at 5:10pm. You weighed 8lbs, 7½oz and was 20¾ inches long. You had a little hair on your head too and greyish eyes. Mommy pushed for you to come out about 15 minutes and you finally came. You did great in the hospital, you come into the room with us every 2 hours to eat. You would eat a lot! The nurse who delivered you was Kelly and she was awesome. She did so good with mommy and you. Dr. Walsh was the doctor there too. You’re just so stinkin’ cute!
The hospital let us come home on Saturday, and we left Lewis Gale about noon and headed home. You did NOT like your car seat when we first put you in it. Once we got in the car though and started moving, you went straight to sleep. You slept all of the way home back to Rocky Mount. Once we got home, you even slept for about 20 more minutes.
Yesterday (Monday) we went to see Dr. Cummings for your first checkup. You’re healthy, and weighed a little over 7lbs. You have a little jaundice but she said that would go away. Your little belly button is still cute and should fall off within the next few days. Your circumcision is starting to heal as well. You’re not sleeping any at night but you sleep a lot during the day. Last night nobody got any sleep so today I’m trying to let you sleep in YOUR bed rather than the play-pen or our bed. You’ve actually been asleep in it almost an hour. I’m impressed! You look so sweet in there sleeping.
Since you’ve been home, the news has been active. Momar Kadafhi is about to lose control in Libya, the whole world is watching that. Also, Hurricane Irene is expected to hit the Carolina coast this weekend and could bring us a lot of rain. We need it though it’s been so dry here. It’s also hot today, 72 degrees right now. Gas actually came down a bit, at $3.29 a gallon. Football season starts in 2 weeks! I am going to go watch you sleep some more, I can’t get enough of it. I love you!
Also, today you survived your first earthquake! It was a 5.9 magnitude earthquake that was in Louisa County, about an hour and a half from here. It was felt from Georgia, all the way to Canada! It’s all over the news. You were asleep in my arms on the couch and mommy was asleep in the bed. Kobie was at school. It scared us all though!
Love,
Daddy
